Indoor live music performance

Dirty Murphy’s is a new Irish underground bar opened on March 13, 2026, on Grainger Street in Newcastle, near the Bigg Market. Designed for a high-energy mix of live music and entertainment, the venue required an audio system capable of delivering powerful, consistent performance in a compact and acoustically challenging space.

To perfectly match the characteristics of the space, the MiniBO-5M warmly welcomes guests at the entrance, setting the tone from the very first step into the venue. This compact Montarbo speaker has been installed at the top of the stairwell leading down into the bar, delivering a subtle yet engaging sound experience right from the moment of arrival.

As guests move further inside, the need for a more powerful and controlled sound system becomes essential. This made the choice of the Montarbo Nettuno 50 system a natural fit. With limited room and demanding conditions, a solution was needed that could guarantee precise coverage, high output, and clarity without overwhelming the environment. The Nettuno 50 delivers exactly that: offering controlled dispersion thanks to its 100° of horizontal coverage, excellent headroom for live music, and a strong, defined low-end.

Particular attention was also given to on-stage monitoring with the Montarbo Nettuno W12 wedge monitors, featuring a maximum SPL of 136 dB, providing focused and highly accurate sound directly to the performer.

Thanks to their extremely linear frequency response, feedback is kept to a minimum while ensuring a more consistent and uniform listening experience across the stage. The available output is well suited for the size of the stage, allowing performers to monitor comfortably without pushing the system unnecessarily. In addition, the strong directivity of the horn helps reduce bleed into the venue, maintaining clarity on stage. A refined detail is the signature Montarbo engraving on the rear of the wedge, combining functionality with a distinctive design touch.

This compact yet powerful setup ensures consistent performance across all genres, from acoustic sets to high-energy DJ performances, without compromise.

“All I can say is that it’s crystal clear even when loud, never distorted once, and all of the artists that have played have been blown away by it!”
Ethan McDermott, General Manager, Dirty Murphy’s

“The system reproduced every genre naturally, with no added colour, and sounded consistent at any level. Really pleased I chose this, as is the client.”
Dr. Douglas Doherty, DACS Audio
